Dr Aniruth has previously served SASMFOS in the roles of Honorary Treasurer and as part of the Fees and Funders Portfolio before his election as President of the organisation to serve for a three year period 2024 to 2027.
Dr Aniruth is primarily in full-time private practice in Cape Town as a specialist Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeon. He offers treatments in the scope of the profession and has a special interest in facial trauma, reconstruction and dental implants.
He also has involvement in Academia as a Part-Time Consultant in the Department of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of the Western Cape. Another academic role that he serves is as a Councillor of the College of Medicine and Surgery (CMSA) and has served as examiner on several occasions. Dr Aniruth has been an invited speaker at local and international conferences and has most recently been acknowledged by SASMFOS for his work on developing a Draft Bill of Rights for Healthcare Professionals.
He currently holds memberships with SASMFOS, the South African Dental Association (SADA); The Association for Osseointegration-Cranio Maxillofacial Surgery (AO-CMF) serving as a Trustee; The International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS); the South African Medico-Lagal Association (SAMLA) and he is an Associate Member of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI). He was also very involved in the early stages of the development and launch of the online SurgeON platform.
Through these relationships, Dr Aniruth and SASMFOS actively seek to develop strong links and collaborations with other specialties and organizations both nationally and internationally and thereby strengthen and promote the profession of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery.

Dr ER Rabie is a dual-qualified Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeon with a subspecialist interest in head and neck oncology with over three years of post-qualification experience.
He practices a wide scope of maxillofacial and oral surgery in both general practice and the public sector. He is the lead maxillofacial oncology surgeon at the University of Pretoria’s Department of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery where he has the privilege of managing complex oncological cases, participating and leading multidisciplinary teams.
He believes in building trust through integrity and respect, continuously striving for excellence.

He has received numerous accolades, including the SADA Gold Medal and the CMSA Gold Medal, for his academic excellence and contributions to the field.
Currently practising at Milnerton Mediclinic and The Cosmetic Surgery Institute in Cape Town, Dr Fakir is celebrated for his precision and innovation in surgical techniques.
His mastery extends across diverse areas including dental implantology, TMJ disorders, orthognathic surgery, and facial trauma, areas where he has set new standards through his groundbreaking work.

Dr Naeem Mahomed trained as a Maxillo Facial and Oral surgeon at the University of the Western Cape. He obtained his MChD in 2016 was admitted as a fellow of the college of Maxillo Facial and Oral Surgeons in 2016.
He has been working in private practice since 2018. He maintains a sessional post in the Department of Maxillo Facial and Oral Surgery at UWC and is part of the Fees and Funders portfolio for SASMFOS.

Dr Rughubar has previously served on the SASMFOS exco in the role of the Fees and Funders Portfolio. He has been Local Organizing Chair for the 2014 and 2018 SASMFOS Congress. He is currently the co – Chair of the congress Committee.
Dr Rughubar is currently the Head: Clinical Unit – Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery at Victoria Mxenge Hospital (previously King Edward VIII Hospital) in Durban since 2006. He also conducts private practice after-hours. He was responsible for the commissioning of the Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery Department at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in 2011.
Dr Rughubar has been involved in the structures of the South African Dental Association (SADA) since 1986 and has served on the branch committee and as President of the KZN branch. He has represented the branch for several years as a National Councilor and has served as President of SADA. He is the recipient of the 2025 SADA Meritorious Award for his serve to the profession. He has also served on the College of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery and has been an examiner on numerous occasions.

Dr Martin Douglas-Jones is a Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeon based at Groote Schuur and Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town.
Dr Douglas-Jones completed his undergraduate dental degree at the University of Stellenbosch and practiced as a dentist in the Eastern Cape. He then moved to the University of the Witwatersrand where he completed his medical degree.
After completing his medical internship in Cape Town, he returned to the Eastern Cape where he worked in the Department of General Surgery at Frere Hospital in East London. He returned to Cape Town where he completed his registrar training in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery (MFOS) at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). Martin has completed an AO fellowship in Basel Switzerland.
He has worked as the MFOS consultant for the East London Hospital Complex. In 2022 he moved back to Cape Town to take up his current role as a consultant within the Department of MFOS at UWC. He graduated from the Surgical Leadership Program, Harvard University, Class of 2022-2023.
